Where can I rent a Warrior in Cork?

We will be staying with friends near Cork (Clonakilty) for a week in May. I'd like to rent an aircraft, preferably Piper Warrior or similar, for a day whilst we are there.

I found a number for Cork Airport to make enquiries, but got no answer. I've tried searching Google for "Flying Club Cork" and similar, to no avail.

If anyone can assist with information on this I'd be very grateful.

Thanks,

Andy - just sent you a PM with contact details for the school based at EICK which I train at - they should be able to sort you out with a C172 or a PA28 - good luck!

No aircraft to rent in south-west Ireland!?!?!?

I've just come off the phone from SouthAer in Cork... they said that they DO NOT RENT OUT AIRCRAFT other than for flight training with an instructor...!

So, one wonders, how do the people that they train rent aircraft after they have received their license?

I asked if there would be another organisation at Cork who does rental, and was told no - and that the nearest would be Dublin or Shannon..!

Can it really be that there is nowhere in south-west Ireland that I can rent a plane while I am there!?

Andy

I have rented from Kerry Aero Club (at Farranfore, near Killarney) - not too near Cork however, especially on those lovely Irish roads. Nearer than Shannon though.

Obviously they would want to do a check-ride first and you also have to pay a full year's club membership (Euro 100.00) - makes it a bit steep for an hour or two of flying. They only have a C172 and a C152.

Mind you, the scenery is awesome (if the weather obliges, of course).

Their web site is http://www.kerryaeroclub.net and there are contact telephone numbers given. Mind you, the clubhouse number will probably only be answered at the week-end, unless you happen to be lucky.

Andy,

There's an Irish aviation bulletin board at http://www.irishaviation.net/

It might be worth posting your query there as well.

To set the record straight...

I received an email over the weekend from a Director of Southaer explaining that the lady I spoke to on the phone was mistaken(!) and they in fact do rent out aircraft to license holders after all..!
