Is the CAA form SRG1119E still valid for SEP revalidation?

I have been using SRG1119E to revaölidate my SEP rating and I am wondering if that is still the case post Brexit.

I hope so because that's the form I've just sent off to the CAA. I was at my local flying club and that's what I filled in with my instructor who I did just over a hour with practising the usual drills.

I gather that the SRG1119E is no longer valid from 13th Jan 2022 (Ref sky wise.caa.co.uk SW2021/295).

It's replaced with SRG3108 which the applicant fills in online. I revalidated (by experience + 1 hour instructional flight) an SEP rating today for a PPL holder and watched whilst the applicant completed the 3108. It was very straightforward, doesn't require any signatures and provided a licence reissue is not required, free. You can keep a copy of the form (download it, or have one emailed to you) for your records when you've submitted it.

I think you would be able to complete one of these in addition to the 1119E that you have just sent in without anything getting complicated.

In fact I have done the online form as well - belt and braces and all that!

You now need to use SRG1157. Either send that to CAA (via e-mail or snail-mail) or complete SRG3108 on-line and you then still need to upload the aforementioned SRG1157 anyhow.

Replacing one form (1119E) with two (3108 + 1157) surely cannot be what’s intended, can it…? Please tell me it isn’t.

Only the examiner or instructor that signs the licence needs to complete and submit the 1157. This needs to be done at the same time as the 3108 since the pilot revalidating has to fill out section 1 of the 1157 and sign where necessary. The examiner then gives the pilot a copy for his file. For revalidation by experience it was historically always an option to use the 1157 anyway. There is no replacement of a form, the authority has just effectively introduced a new online form for the pilot to submit which was not required in the past. The examiner has no involvement in the 3108 and his/her task is virtually unchanged. In fact, by using only the 1157, no recording of hours is required. I predict, in the fullness of time, the authority will realise they no longer know how many hours PPLs are flying!

Wouldn't surprise me since, for many years, they didn't know how many PPL schools were operating in the UK.

I used SRG1157 and also filled out the SRG3108 online.

Adjunct: According to yet another badly worded page on the authority's wonderful website, the 3108 is sort of optional, only the 1157 is mandatory !

Surely the 1157 is for testing, if its a reval by experience, why is it needed?

You fill in SRG3108 as stated. but too many of you are making a song and dance of it. Fill out the details on the back of a Greggs used paperbag and send it will have the same effect. You are only helping the CAA keep their records up to date, no more. the examiner has undertaken the licensing action.

The SRG1157 is the examiner's report having signed the licence and the pilot takes no part. It is not electronic but it is posted or emailed by the examiner.

No electronic forms or otherwise to CAA are needed for NPPL SSEA Revalidation. Just the hours flight with an instructor or examiner and a signature etc in the logbook and C of E.

Looking at the SRG1157, i cannot see anywhere to record when the 1 hour flight with an instructor took place.
So i presume the 3108 is needed as well.

I have recently had my UK SEP(L) revalidated by experience so I'll add my 2p.

• My examiner filled in SRG1119E and sent to the CAA
• CAA responded to the effect of "SRG1119E is obsolete, please use SRG3108"
• I then went to the CAA's website, found SRG3108 and noticed the following in the description

Clear as mud. I think I will just e-mail them using the address given and notify about the licence endorsement in plain text. If I have a good day, I may throw in a copy of my endorsed licence.

By confirming the requirements are met, there is no need to log the 60 minutes dual which could be any number of flights!
