Busy morning at Oshkosh.
Traffic on the Fisk arrival was landing on all three runways - 36L, 36R and 27!

Yesterday they had a couple of incidents that really messed up the traffic flow. A Stearman did a little nose over and a Piper did a gear up landing.

Should have been there this year (and last) but the uk /usa travel restrictions put a stop to that unfortunately.

paulc,
Do try to go - it's an amazing experience, doubly so if you fly in*. The highlights of my visit, apart from the arrival and departure, were the Martin Mars dropping 27 tonnes of water adjacent to the crowd line, a Mig 17 low-flying during the night display, with a giant afterburner flame coming out of the jet pipe and watching in a mirror, as I was shaving, six Mustangs taxying past, behind me! The Snowbirds were there that year and I was really impressed when a Tutor was brought over to the camping area and two of the pilots pitched a tent and camped for the night. * When we were downwind for 27, the Tower missed a call from an arriving warbird and asked him for his call sign. The reply, in a very slow Texan drawl, was "This is silver ... B-29 ... Fifi." |
India four two, have been to every one since 2006 with only 2020 and 21 being missed due to covid travel restrictions being in place. Agree it is a wonderful experience that anyone with an interest in aviation should try to do at least once.
