Required checks at annual inspection?
 
As at Sept 2019, I am trying to find a definitive list of things that are supposed to be checked at the annual inspection of a Turbo Arrow.

The Piper Service Manual lists the 50/100//500/1000 hour inspection requirements.

Which of these should be carried out at the annual, or is it a different set of checks?

Would also be great if somewhere, there was a SIMPLE to follow breakdown of the maintenance regime that exists in the UK at this time!

I can't speak for UK rules, though in Canada the following are applicable:

There are also differences between commercial and privately operated planes. Your maintainer should be able to explain the requirements to you.

An Arrow registered in any EASA state should be classed as "ELA1", the UK explanation of those rules are here.

You will find that the rules are *not* set in stone, as under the present CAMO system, the maintenance organisation have flexibility to set the maintenance requirements according to the useage of the aeroplane. This has been abused by some CAMOs who are also the maintainers, in interpreting things to their own best financial advantage, but most are pretty honest.

Previously however, the rule was in a CAA document called "LAMS" which is a lot easier to understand, and pretty much what still goes on - I don't know of a source of that online any more, but somebody else may be able to help.

Arrow probably isn't ELA1?
 
ELA1 is usually non-complex and 1200kg and below, to be able to apply the MIP/SDMP programme. I'm pretty certain Arrows dont come into this (my buddy's is 1202kg). Is therefore ELA2, so at present still maintained under LAMP in UK, which is easy to download and study. I understand there will be a new maintenance regime for them too, soon, but not as yet. Can't guarantee this info, as I'm pilot not engineer, but have studied quite a lot as mine is ELA1 and SDMP.......

The Piper Service manual is primarily based on FAA rules where the 100 hour check often doubles as an annual. Your aircraft is still under the LAMP regulations for ELA 2 aircraft so whatever you've been doing up to now still applies. If however it's under 1200kg and has been allowed into the ELA 1 category it befalls you as the owner to make up your own Self Declared Maintenance Program (SDMP) which should have been completed by now.

Whoever does your maintenance should be able to advise accordingly.
