FAA PPL schools shortlist
 
Hi again guys,
I post recently about 'mstarting flying training, and now I am looking to complete a intensive PPL course towards the end of this year, November/December. I have narrowed down my search to a couple of Schools, any advice/personal experience/anecdotes from any of these schools would be much appreciated;

Crystal aero group, Crystal River FL: very helpful and personal both over the phone and via email, seems like the instructors are very experienced too.

Pilots paradise, Sebastian airport FL: also very informative, seems well organized, PA28s though,can be a little more expensive per hour.

Sunstate aviation, Orlando FL: Decent rates for Cessna, not much other info.

EFT FL: Not much info on the FAA PPL, they seem keen on pushing the EASA course though, anyone any experience with a FAA PPL at this school?

​​​​​​That's the shortlist for now, but I'm keeping an open mind, any suggestions for other schools, anywhere in the USA, would be great, I'll certainly look at all options first.

Since you are new here find the search function and enter the schools on your list.
You should go and check all the schools before making your decision, even if you have to travel to the US twice before you start your training, it's well worth it, you will have a better idea of the extra costs and pitfalls of doing your training on foreign land. If you are adamant on training in FL you should broaden your search and check out schools in the Daytona beach and Lakeland area. You can also use AOPA's website to make a general search on Part 141 schools all over the US.

Hi Talime,
Initially yes, once it's hopefully done though I plan on enrolling on a distance learning ATPL course and see how I go there, a lot saof peopley it's the hardest part so fingers crossed. Afterwards the plan is then to return to the US, build up to CPL level, including all needed ratings and convert somewhere here in Europe for EASA. But first, the PPL fast track. Let me know how your search is going, think I have it narrowed down to one or two schools now:rolleyes:

very good piece of advise. Was using that (AOPA) plus FAA link on pilot school (am unable to share the link) as central to my needs. Presently zeroing in on about 3 schools within FL and need to reach a decision very soon. Any inputs / advise will be appreciated. Thank you.

NS Aviation is good - I did my PPL there - very professional - they do not mess around and the airspace is 'interesting' i.e. very, busy and complicated (under the Class B shelf etc) - I did my PPL there, never had a problem after doing the training in such a place.

They are based at North Perry in Hollywood just north of Miami - a very busy airport, 4 runways, several flight schools including helicopters, banner towing etc.

Only caveat - they are not a cheap/cut price operation - they have a lot of commercial training (on the up side they do not bounce you for the commercial guys) - mainly they are a Cessna school (172's of various vintages including some 172M's the best 172 in my opinion).
