Lapsed JAR PPL(A) to EASA or NPPL(M)

Hi All,

back to flying after the best part of ten years off.

my JAR PPL (A) lapsed in 2012 and am now keen to get back flying. At this point i’m Not sure whether to go for the EASA PPL equivalent or the NPPL(M).

Its not part of a career move for me - so that’s not really a consideration.

Ive done a few hours in a Ikarus C42 but am still tempted by gaining a ‘full’ PPL. Asides night/IR Flying etc - are there any substantial benefits to getting the EASA license?

cheers

Sam

In order to maximise your options, I'd get an EASA PPL. It's 'training as required' and a test (then some money to the CAA!) Go to your local school and I'm sure they'd be pleased to help.
Then go to the microlight school and get an instructor to sign your logbook. You can then fly the C42 on your EASA licence.
If you don't want to do any SEP flying for the time being, no problem, just do a test every 2 years to keep it current, then if you do change your mind, you've the option.
