Prince Michael resigns as LAA patron

As I am out of the UK for six months my LAA magazines are piled up inside the front door waiting for my return in May.

However I am reliably informed that PM of Kent has resigned as LAA's Patron.

Interestingly enough , it said that he took up the role in the Summer of 1992 and held it for 26yrs .

It has been suggested to me that his resignation in 2018 coincided with events at the LAA AGM.

No doubt others closer to blighty and the LAA can suggest the reason he threw the towel in!

Reputational damage brought about by association with .....?

... or in a strop because the LAA members didn't support his dear chum

I have no doubt SWMNBN was not the reason he left his post as Patron. I believe he encouraged said person to withdraw gracefully before the event leading to the person's embarrassment.
After 26 years of promoting the LAA, I believe he felt age was on not his side and he has reduced his workload.
I thank him for his Patronage and wish him good health.

I most respectfully have to disagree there AK . Don't forget that Royals live a lot longer than us commoners and 75 makes him still a spring chicken in their terms .

Re; his support for *** : I am sure it was well meant and totally honourable from the outset , even if it did emerge that she wasn't quite the aviator that she was bluffing us that she was . Had it all been laid to rest in 2016 , then I don't think that anyone would have batted an eyelid.
I am also sure that you are quite correct in that PM of K was not at all keen for her to resurrect her campaign for 2018 . I have been told this very reliably too .
I believe that what sealed it for 2018 though , was her disgusting and self-centred behaviour , plus the total lack of respect shown to the LAA , plus the fact that her actions could have placed the LAA in substantial financial straits , which left PM in a very embarrassing position .

I certainly thank him and wish him well too as a man of good faith . Which was totally misplaced in that particular instance .

He is an honorable character, who doesn't dump his erstwhile frends just when problems loom. He'd have quietly done his best I'm sure in a rather divisive situation.

He got his PPL using Alan Curtis' Bulldog G-AXIG. One of his landaways was Farnborough and I remember him coming into the tower to get his certificate signed.
To me he looked just like KG 5 (his grandad?).
