@CrazyScientist, I have it from someone sitting on various EASA committees, and I wouldn't know how to find that information on my own, either. As for the things that have already been voted or considered, you may indeed go to a website and check, as per the instructions below:


You can search for such documents here. Choose the "Committee" radio button in Committee / Basic legal act, then pick Service "DG Mobility and Transport" and find the "Committee for the application of common safety rules in the field of civil aviation" which is the formal name for the EASA Committee.
This thing, however, is only going to be voted on in the future and I had to rely on my friend to get a feel of when that might happen.

Just to update this thread, I have actually been certified as fit for LAPL as of today and so will get cracking with this process. I have been concurrently liaising with the CAA licensing department regarding LAPL conversion, UK PPLs etc.

For reference (as this process isn't officially published anywhere...), re-grade of PPL to LAPL is £41. Re-grade back to PPL is £73 with no testing necessary (remember this is not initial issue). SRG1104 to be used in both cases, although it's a bit of a fudge how you fill it in as the form is technically for conversion of non-EASA licences...

A UK PPL can be obtained for the cost of £36, using either SRG1102 or SRG1104. Again a fudge, to capture details as jollyrog mentioned. I won't be taking this route as it's simply too risky now with only about 6 weeks left of useful life for such a licence on EASA aircraft.

A lot of hassle for what feels like a really silly omission from the original Aircrew Regulation (PPL not being valid for LAPL privileges with a LAPL medical certificate)!

The correct form for re-grade of a licence from EASA PPL to LAPL or vice-versa is SRG1190. Surprised the CAA don't know that. :rolleyes:

Jeez, that's unbelievable... I'm getting all this information in writing from a TSO too, not some random agent on the phone.

I'm paying £100 for an appointment at the CAA to get this sorted, on top of application fees and of course transport to Gatwick. Not great if I get there and my application is cancelled because I haven't got the right form...

I'll query this with them, thanks for letting me know.

EDIT: To be fair, after having a look, the forms are pretty similar and a licensing officer would probably be able to suss what was required from an SRG1104 submission.

Just to update this again, it is indeed SRG1104 and CAA confirmed that the SRG1190 document is 'an old form' that is no longer used for re-grades.
