Heveningham Hall Country Fair Fly in

Dear All;

The Heveningham Hall Country Fair fly in is on again on the 8th & 9th July.

Anyone happy on 530m of good grass is welcome to come.

PPR is essential from me [email protected]

There is something for everyone and a chance to add a really different destination to your logbook.

The event is on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, West of Sothwold and South of Halesworth.

It would be nice to get a few from PPRUNE, there a lot of regulars from a certain other forum.

Dear John, where exactly is this 530m runway?
Even if assuming your "Sothwold" might actually mean "Southwold" I couldn't find any runway on satellite imagery.

It's not a permenant airstrip and I'm not likely to fly in but a quick search found this:
HeveninghamHall : The approach to Heveningham Hall's airstrip at this year's #countryfair with Wings & Wheels! http://t.co/Oniv2bdPNu | Twicsy - Twitter Picture Discovery

Shouldn't be too difficult to place it with Google Earth.

Have been in before and very worthwhile. Plenty of things to see, do and eat.

I can second that, been in a couple of times now. Children will love it too, I flew in with my daughter last time as she loves owls and they tend to have a few raptor exhibitors. There's a bit of an initial up-slope to the runway if coming in from the East so try not to land too short.

At least 6 aircraft from Rochester already planning arrival!

Looking forward to receiving briefing with frequency etc. Will notify reg and types before arrival. Best regards, CT.

Actually Jan it is Southwold, and you won't find a runway on Google Earth unless they've managed to film it on any of the two days it exists every year.

I build an airfield for the event, up to 200 aircraft fly in over the weekend.

Take a look at these, they give a good idea of the event:

As I recall John only gives the frequency out for those that PPR as there's a few important briefing items (air display times, no fly areas).

That's right. Due to pressure of arrivals, display times and no fly zones I give the frequency out with the aerodrome plate when issuing the permission.

Every year we get a few who copy their mate's plate and just turn up and it does cause problems. I'm happy to issue PPR half an hour before arrival, but most of the flight strips are already completed before the event to make life easier for the team who work the airfield.

Another great day

Thanks to all at HH. Must be one of the best flyins. So much entertainment as well as a challenging arrival (was worth going just to watch that), but you also get a complete Country Fair, and even an air display. (Why am I not surprised that the Spit downed the Messerschmit?). Blades were excellent, and it all happens again tomorrow!

Thanks John.

Another triumph for John and his splendid team: very many thanks to all. Sorry about the camera :uhoh:

I hope the weather plays ball tomorrow: it's got half a chance if the forecasts are as wrong as they were today...
