Petition to reassess UK airfields as green belt
If you care that more and more airfields are under threat of becoming villages, please consider signing this petition.
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/174826 |
The petition is pointless and will automatically fail because "Green Belt" has a specific meaning which cannot include most airfields because they are not located in the correct place.
The petition should ask for "Greenfield" status not "Green Belt". |
I'm sure the originator will appreciate your comments.
Meanwhile, people are signing, not least, perhaps, because there's enough negativity around already. |
Done. Can't do any harm. Doing nothing won't do any good.

Not really knowing the UK situation, I could imagine it might do a degree of harm, along the lines of "them poor whimsy whiners, them don't even know what to call things. Let's just carry on with business, there's nothing serious about all those complaints."
Still I have to agree, merely pointing what's wrong about the complaint isn't going to help much in getting (or keeping) things right. |
Done. Anything to help.

With net migration at 325k PA it would need a town the size of Coventry to be built every year. Until this stops all those airfields are under threat. UK towns and cities are already gridlocked. I can't understand our government letting it get worse. Soon there will be nothing left but houses.

Tinmug: you are completely right. But we have to control our population, too.
The trouble is, none of our politicians will ever put population control up for discussion because they think it would be political suicide. Congestion is not the only problem. All the money we spend in coping with ever increasing demand for everything - roads, hospitals, schools etc etc is keeping us poor. Ask the rail commuters if they enjoy paying more and more for season tickets to fund extra track and carriages. Sorry about the thread drift, but loss of airfields is only symptomatic of our much bigger problem. The more the problem is given an airing, the sooner it will become generally recognised. |
