Waddington LARS frequency
 

Ahoy flyers. May I use this forum to alert those flying in Lincolnshire who require a service from Waddington that their frequency has changed to 119.50. It would appear that some planning documentation has not been amended to reflect the change. And/or maybe some people haven't checked the NOTAMs etc regarding the change.

Been caught out twice by that recently. Should have learnt the first time.:O

Waddington LARS frequency changed to 119.50 around October 6th and was Notamed at the time for a couple of weeks or more.

SD plog just gave me 127.35 which is how I got caught out two days ago.

SD is of course not an official source for Notams....Their blurb says as such.

Nevertheless, SD did/does provide the relevant NOTAM.

SD PLog + reading the NOTAMs give the right answer.

Coningsby LARS will be 119.2 from 9th Dec too.

Coningsby have already switched over to 119.2

You can expect more throughout the year as units prepare for the 8.33 deadline of 31 Dec next year. Oxford will be changing all our frequencies (and increasing our range) and I know it's going to hurt. 5 years after first changing the old Approach/Radar frequency we still have some numb-nuts calling on the old ICF (initial contact frequency) because they haven't updated their maps :ugh: Luckily or unluckily the old ICF is the Director frequency which is monitored.

What would be really helpful is if the NATS A5 frequency cards that used to be provided with a half million map, but are now online, had some sort of change tracking. If you have loaded your radio with frequencies, it's a bit of a nightmare to keep them current.

Also note that as of 1800 on 16th December Waddington LARS closed until 0800 on 3rd January.
