The problem with EDNX is the limited number of PPR's they have available. From what I've seen on their website, they often run out of them before the year is over...

EDMJ, as you appear to know a bit more on the private pilot genocide culture of the region, a question regarding the former(?) field called Fürstenfeldbruck. Is it true that they closed the airfield officially for noise reasons and now installed a BMW test drive ranch for cars and motorcycles? I heard it as a rumor today and couldn't believe it, especially with the guy on the phone laughing.

Yes, completely true. The NIMBY brigade there is outraged. If BMW is going to offer driving courses there on weekends, then my next car will be a BMW, the loudest one I can get.

From what I understood it is not only cars, but also motocross circuit? Trading the seldom sonorous sound of an aircraft for continuous circling dentist's-drill motocross machines would not sound like a smart decision. Amazing.

As I understand it, the "driving force" behind the closure of FFB was BMW who wanted the airfield for their test track.

I live in Munich and fly out of Augsburg. It takes me about 35 minutes to get to the Airport in Augsburg and frankly though, I consider such a time frame to commute to a GA Airport fairly normal.


Just like any other airspace jurisdiction, there are rules, regulations and constraints that must be adhered to when flying in Bavaria. It is not that bad though and if you give considerable attention to the circumstances, you will really enjoy flying in Bavaria.


You can use public Transportation (which is very reliable) to get to GA Airports in the Munich area, but you would have to use taxi for the last mile.


It is fun flying in the Munich area and the landings fees aren't to heavy. PM me if you need reliable and credible Information.

As to the pattern of EDNX Oberschleissheim:

Just for the record - the funky pattern does NOT take you into Munich CTR. At the recommended height and the defined turns at the NorthEast "corner" you stay outside.
Straying off there - in particular confusing a regional road with a motorway - you may receive an additional "approach fee" for infringement of CTR.

I think you are wrong, the official traffic circuit potato on the AIP drawing now routes you around Unterschleissheim and directly through Munich CTR. It even states explicitly: "ATC clearance for the CTR sector is considered granted if the VMC minima of Munich Airport permits this."
