Many posts ago( #1402?) I wrote about the likely first three stages of TCT's team's PR tactic.
a) Evasion ( "Must rush, sorry no time for questions just now in our busy schedule"). b) Denial ( "You misunderstand, that was just not the actual intention"). c) Counter-accusation ("We have to ask, just what are your motives for attacking us?"). So now we appear ( according to her managed Wicki Page ) to have moved on to: c) Counter-accusation. I don't think that Sam Rutherford and Jay Sata need be too concerned by this inept and inane attack on their reputations. |

I think I did at least a half-decent job on the Africa trip - I got her luggage safely to the hotel almost every time. :rolleyes: It does look as if we've moved from trying to discredit the story to trying to discredit the sources. Curious, though, how much of the damaging information actually comes from her own channels! So, don't forget to vote! |

You can e-mail the proxy form back to the LAA, once completed. I asked the same question on the LAA Forum, and was advised this was acceptable. While T C-T is running down the reputations of posters on here, and certainly doing sod all for the "cause" of women in aviation, maybe, if she does look at this thread she might take a look at some women who really flew in a challenging environment, in truly challenging aircraft: this rather beautiful lady for a start:

Of course it is.
But first, it seems, we must wade our way through this mess of bovine excreta. Just as a BTW, credible information had come to light regarding Amy Johnson's ultimate fate while on ATA duties over the Thames estuary. It involves the attempted rescue by the RN which, putting it mildly, didn't go too well. So near, and yet so far. (expletive deleted). Very, very sad. If somebody can provide a link to that report, (I'm not myself able to at the moment), while off-topic, it would be of interest to many - both here and on AH&N. . |

A sad business. RIP. Only ATA girl I ever saw was at Hawarden in 1942. From an old (2012) Post of mine in Another Place : "I saw my first "Typhoon" there, flown in by the ATA; in early 42 that was a very rare bird indeed. They hadn't got the carburetion sorted out properly yet; every start was a toss-up whether the engine would run or burst into flames. A fire truck had to stand by every time, and this always attracted a crowd (don't we all enjoy a good bonfire?) On the morning of the Typhoon's departure, a small bunch of us, not scheduled to fly till later, strolled round the taxyway to watch the fun from a safe distance. All was made ready, the pilot came out and jaws dropped. A pert little blonde in a snazzy white flying overall hopped up into the cockpit. This put quite a different face on things. We hadn't come here to watch a re-run of St-Joan-at-Rouen, and were glad to see that she didn't strap herself in before pressing the button. The fire crew gripped their extinguishers, we held our breath. The ancients believed the unicorn to be a savage beast, only to be subdued by a chaste young maiden. There may have been something in it, the big "Sabre" fired-up with no more than the customary snarl of fire and brimstone from the exhaust stubs, then idled sweet as a nut. Our aviatrix ran through the checks, imperiously waved chocks away, and off she went. We walked back pensively to our Spitfires with male egos sadly deflated. If this chit of a girl could handle a monster like that, where did that leave us? The message was reinforced as we came up to the marshalling point, the thing came bellowing down the runway and flashed past us fifty feet in the air. We trudged glumly back to our Flights". Danny. |
Without mentioning names , a good friend of mine took her now 101 year old ex ATA Gran along to White Waltham to see the museum. After being shown around it came to "Any questions?".
A keen youngster asked the guide how difficult it was to actually fly a Spitfire. The response was along the lines of : " Actually not that difficult to fly , indeed a grandmother could probably do it" "I did." came her voice from the back of the group. |
76fan has reacted with horror -as I did - and posted on the T C-T thread on AH&N about the following public announcement on the Fleet Air Arm Officers' Association (FAAOA) website where T C-T has been invited as guest of honour to the Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, for a Taranto Night dinner:
The FAAOA has kindly been offered 10 tickets to the BRNC Taranto Night Dinner on Thursday 17th November 2016. The event is open to all serving and retired FAA Pilots, Observers, ATC, AEO and AV Officers. The Taranto Dinner provides the perfect opportunity for the Officer Cadets at the college to be introduced to the Fleet Air Arm tribe and to experience the camaraderie and spirit of those they one day aspire to join. Guest of Honour this year is Tracey Curtis-Taylor. Having been a FAAOA member for the last 50 years that is an event I would love to have attended. Taranto Night is very special to the Fleet Air Arm and honours the memory of those who in WW2 attacked the Italian Fleet in Taranto harbour. Her presence at the dinner meant I didn't apply for tickets. |

Given the context is it worth highlighting her attendance at the Taranto Night dinner on the Mil forum? I know if I'd been made aware of her attendance at any similar RAF event which I'd been entitled to attend I'd have been on the keyboard PDQ to the organisers. |
