Spirit of Victory ? Could that be an acknowledgement of her strong links with the RN and Portsmouth...:ok:

Noted in the American Airpower Museum write-up was the bit about one of her other hobbies ,doing oil paintings.

That'll be mainly abstracts then !

This is just bitchin' as our cousins would say. At some point, a line has to be drawn and a chance given. If that chance is wasted, then let slip the dogs...

Agreed, clareprop, but her track record isn't very good.. ☹️

Chris Martyr 6th Jul 2017 20:45

Upon reflection , I fully agree with JZ and Clareprop .
If TC-T has seen the light and wishes to pursue the concluding sectors of her 'global trip' without the padded-out bits , then well done to her.
It is though , still a shame that this couldn't have been part of the basic framework from day 1 !
Hopefully , the remaining team members will have taken this on board . The only way you can impress aviation people , is by playing a straight hand of cards from the start.
That's the REAL difference . Amy saw it and so did Amelia and many , many others. If Tracey has now twigged it , then it can only be a 'career plus'.

It's still not a round the world flight as it seems it is being claimed to be.

Perhaps the journos have got it wrong again.

The Old Fat One 8th Jul 2017 06:30

The ac name change was entirely predictable and explainable. When she fell out with Artemis they would have insisted on the removal of their logo and branding from the kite.

Her plan/strategy is also becoming clear as is the fact that she still has sufficient funds to continue.

I expect a lowish profile solo completion of the journey, with a ton of stills and footage of her on her Jack Jones in said kite.

Then a carefully repackaged/re-edited film (which appears still at the production stage) during which the whole pprune saga will be presented (as opposed to hidden/denied) with us lot as very much the bad guys who went nuts over some mis-managed press releases.

As we all should know by now, we live in a world where fake news rules if you have the fund and means to make it so.

I'd leave it to Karma to have the last word now, except to say some of you are way too trusting!

QED from me.

Chris Martyr 8th Jul 2017 07:52

Wise words indeed there from TOFO.
It is with a degree of trepidation that I find myself trying to give her the benefit of the doubt for this last and relatively unpublicised bit of her trip.
Given the fact that 'relatively unpublicised' is probably a term which does not exist in Curtis-Taylor's world , then it does rather suggest that the low-profile could be the pre-cursor for yet another bit of last minute trickery.
But being the soft-hearted, diplomatic chap that I am , I await with great interest .

Maybe she just wanted to see this thread on PPruNe brought back to life.

Tracey's airplanes, a Boeing Stearman and a Ryan Recruit, are currently based at Goodwood in West Sussex UK.
Odd to see this stated in what is a current press release, as it is incorrect and has not been the case for quite some time.

I think you have posted a very clear view of what is happening TOFO. There are just a couple of things I would like to add.

What she is doing now is far too little and far too late. She may well be flying genuinely SOLO but hopping from US strip to US strip with a crew following on the ground (most likely in radio contact) is a long way removed from crossing the Timor Sea or the Aussie Outback on your own.

As for her denigrating PPRUNErs who have stood up to her then she is on a hiding to nothing on that score. What has been posted is both factual and flies in the face of anything she has claimed. If she wishes to play it dirty and deflect blame on to us for "misunderstanding" a wayward press release then let her. I am sure mainstream media would be very interested in the videos of her making the false claims long after it was raised as an issue. Add to that her reluctance to answer any of the genuine questions that have been raised about how the early flights were conducted.

As for having funding. This is not her money, it has come from wealthy investors hoping to benefit from the glory and also from rich old men beguiled by her charm. Early ATC recordings show TCT working with a helicopter at Santa Monica on a filming flight. Its c/s is N80WW. This helo is registered to LAUREN2GO Inc. I shall let you do your own digging on that company but the conclusions I draw are that there has been a concerted effort to involve West Coast individuals who have some serious media connections.

In any of the fake news situations it will always be the whistle-blower who is blamed and accused; I think we can safely stand by what we have said.

To be clear I have nothing against women, I have nothing against women pilots, I have nothing against successful women; I do however have a very strong dislike of those who lie, cheat, manipulate and connive for their own gains all under some wonderful "outreach" mask: Irrespective of their gender or background.

Piltdown Man 8th Jul 2017 22:35

Here are some simple questions. The world has been told countless times that TCT cares passionately about her outreach programme, enabling poor third world girls to take part in STEM projects and aviation. Has this programme been canned or are trailer parks not nice places to go (tongue in cheek a bit for that one)? Or is this programme on hold! How will the investors get their return? It will have to very obvious to get your cash back yet no preparatory work us being done during the flying. No beanos or freebie events in city halls, no TV etc. Can you imagine briefing your PR people not to give briefings after you have spent some of their funds? It's like nothing I've seen before.

PM

PS. Is the Spirit of Victory possibly a drone being flown by a spotty 12 year old from the chase helicopter? Now that would be a story!

piperboy84 9th Jul 2017 01:11

Other reasons TCT may not be making a big keruffle on this flight is perhaps she is doing it on the low down just for the love of flying. And flying coast to coast even in a vintage aircraft isn't that unusual, in fact I'd imagine it's quite a common occurrence and certainly nothing the press would be interested in.

First image of The Spirit of Victory. I like how the front cockpit is clearly visible, just to prove a point. (note this image says 2016 but that cannot be right) :-)

As for the rename...I wonder why, when the other parts of the plane are still emblazoned with the Artemis Investments logo. Perhaps the alter ego Spirit of Artifice was getting them all down.

Mike Flynn 10th Jul 2017 18:02

I have been on the sidelines watching this and wondering how it would pan out.

I am amazed she finds it so easy to lie!

"Around The World In A Stearman" To the average person that means you set of from point A on the globe and return to that point in this case flying the biplane.

Tracey appears to have come up with a new definition of circumnavigation where you can move the chess pieces to suit your own agenda.

In answer to Satcos Whipping Boy the picture is 2016 with the aircraft logo photoshopped to remove Spirit of Artemis.

I might enter the Tour De France next year with a bike for start and finish and a limo in between.

Never mind Spirit of Victory...Spirit of Fake News might be nearer the point.

Can I suggest a tandem borrowed from Bradley Wiggins with him pedalling up front ?

Mike Flynn 10th Jul 2017 18:50

The story is still the same. She alludes to a trans global flight in the Stearman.
Will she make Earthrounders?

It certainly is an epic adventure. I have never come across any other pilot who has
air freighted their aircraft across the Pacific and Atlantic. :-)

Are there any pictures of her flight across the USA?https://s24.postimg.org/u9hxfcoqt/IMG_4185.jpg

brakedwell 10th Jul 2017 19:02

Where photos taken during the oceanic sectors on her "Around the World" flight?

Mike Flynn 10th Jul 2017 19:12

I might be missing something here but how do you start a global flight at Farnborough and complete it in New York?
