Lapsed UK PPL

Hi All,

I have a UK PPL since 1993. I did not changed it neither for JAA, nor EASA licence, its still the good old fashion hard cover PPL. I was current until 2-3 years ago, since I have not flown. Now I want to bring it back alive, and just realising about all the new regulations about EASA. At moment I am in Finland, and I was advised, that I can do everything here. I have already my appointment for the medical. I am pretty sure that will be accepted CAA. I also found a company who would do the Proficiency Check here. The problem, although they can train for PPL in Finland, they are not ATO. I guess the examiner will have the necessary authority, but what about the refreshing training? Would it be accepted by CAA? And I believe when its all done, I have to send it to CAA to convert for EASA licence.
Thanks for any advise.

You need two things besides an EASA medical; a Course Completion Certificate signed by an EASA ATO and a Profficiency Check conducted by a UK notified EASA Examiner See IN 50-2015
You will then need to complete SRG 1104 to convert your old UK PPL, which requires a Certification (Section 9 (v))that you are competent to use radio navigation aids.

I guess the examiner will have the necessary authority, but what about the refreshing training? Would it be accepted by CAA?
If the examiner has the necessary authority, he will reject it at that point if the school is not EASA compliant and the CAA will not accept it either.

Additionally, you will need a certificate of English Language Profficiency SRG1199 signed by a UK Examiner, a Finnish certificate would not be accepted.

Thank you very much. Its getting pretty complicated. What I don't understand, if this school in Helsinki can train PPLs, /I guess nowadays everything is EASA, so their student will get EASA PPL/ how come they are not EASA compliant. Anyway I have the feeling I better wait to get back to UK and do everything there.
