Well, even if I know it is easy to give comments from the sideline, the middle groove seems as heavy as the others, which raises questions about the "holding off" of the nosewheel, so much impressed upon my poor self. But the grooves are rather long, at least 200m I should reckon, on such a wet surface that must mean the plane was not light. Made an airliner landing perhaps, after a textbook 3 degrees approach?

Anyway: kudos to the chaps that are seen repairing the damage.

Hmmm, top marks for the guys patching up the mess but that will not solve the problem.
Work is needed to improve the drainage. Local conditions vary but typically this involves contouring the field and/or deep mole draining to cut through to a pervious layer below the clay.
In some cases consolidating the surface with crushed stone or road planings (cheap, they may even pay you to take them) may help but the water still has to find a way out.

Any improvements will, of course, cost money and this is often hard to find.

I spent 20k getting it professionally drained and the field was reclaimed from a former sand pit so it's basically like a links course with plenty draining, it's the first time this has happened in 5 years it must have been soaking right after a heavy rain when the guy landed.

Very annoying. The first problem here is that you probably cannot identify the offender because he obviously did not call for PPR.

There are very good reasons why PPR is a legal requirement for all unlicenced and non-public licenced fields.

Is there some way that landing aircraft can be identified when the field is unattended, maybe one of those motion detecting wildlife cameras would work and they are not expensive. Worth a try even if all you end up with is a few pictures of foxes. You may need more than one, a little experimenting is called for. A whole load cheaper than a fancy CCTV contraption.

I'm not really annoyed just glad nothing get bent or broke and nobody got hurt, the positive side of the story is the kids got off the Xbox for a few hours and done some manual labor, although it did cost me £5 quid an hour, a fish supper and a ten pack of fags each plus both wanted to tool round the quarry in the land rover for a while.one even claimed to have broken a sweat! God forbid.

Better not broadcast those rates of pay or the local FI's will be queuing up to help out next time! ;)

Annoying that someone landed like that but there are idiots everywhere and seemingly plenty in aviation.

Well there are such things as Notams which could be applied after a 'Pitch Inspection', or you could try a web-site briefing such as the IoW...

I used to fly gliders from a site where a landing stop could be about 8 feet, and even the tow truck got stuck, to be rescued by the club tractor.
