Prague Airshow June 11-13 2015

Does anyone have any any experience of flying into the Prague Airshow, June 11-13? I am talking more of the admin side than the flying.
We need a hard Runway (Cirrus SR20), so are planning Vodochody (LKVO). They charge for a lot of things, but it only seems to add up to around £80 for 4 of us - 3 days with grass parking. But from past experience I am wary of hidden extras.
They seem to offer free show admission and a shuttle bus to Kbely (LKKB).
Any advice on accommodation? Even if you have only gone scheduled, advice on hotels and public transport would be useful.
With 4 Adults we need to stop a couple of times. Does anyone have any favourite fuel stops in Germany?

Only from hearsay: a lot seems to have changed at LKVO Vodochody recently, and reports have been quite mixed. I would recommend you get in touch with the operator to get your information confirmed.

As for a stop enroute: I have only been there once, but have a good memory of EDBJ Jena - fuel available, nice restaurant, very able and helpful ATC staff.

Do not forget however that, departing from the UK, your first stop in Schengen needs to have immigration service, which seriously limits your options.

Would you have more info about the airshow? website? If it is at Kbely, as you seem to suggest, will that not seriously affect operations at nearby Letnany, if they aren't even completely disrupted?

[[edit: I should have looked before asking - it wasn't hard to find www.efaprague.com/wp-content/uploads/EFA-Prague-2015-Brochure.pdf Looks like a continuation of the event I visited a couple of years ago at Przibram. Wonder why they moved elsewhere, it was a good location. Perhaps they found Kbely less hard to pronounce, or perhaps they value the ILS approach? ]]

hmm this is first time I heard LKVO is offering anything for free :) Good luck with that :)

by the way LKLT even grass totally fine for cirrus, afaik we have there 3x SR20 + one cessna 350 operated from LKLT at the moment.

There will be a new press release in the coming week or so, about arriving by air, but there will be NO arrivals at Kbely other than exhibitors, so we hope (LKLT) Letnany will be the main arrivals airfield, where a shuttle bus to the show will run constantly, if anyone arriving at (LKVO) Vodochody will have to book the transport in advance.
I hope this helps, but please wait for the press release.

G-ANPK: hope for shuttle bus LKLT - LKKB is probably bad hope :) I don't think so anyone will do this, it is 10-15minutes walk...

10-15 minutes walk or not we still hope to run a shuttle bus , we do it in England for a lot less walk than that, where we have held Aero events in the past, AeroExpo @ Wycombe Air Park (EGTB) and hopefully this year at AeroExpo Sywell (EGBK)
Hope to meet you at (LKLT) Letnany later this year.

Prague June 11-13

We are thinking of flying an SR20 EGBT to LKVO for the Prague airshow, June 11-13 2015. With 4 adults we have to stop fairly often. I am toying with Ostend EBOS, Koln EDDK, Erfurt EDDE as we need 800m + of hard runway. It seems difficult to get IFR to work at low levels, say FL70 or 80 as routes do not seem to go where I want to, so I am looking at VFR around 5000ft. Does anyone have any experience/tips/traps on flying in Belgium/Germany/Czech Republic?
It all seemed a lot easier in bigjets, except, of course, when one forgot to change to Approach on departure and the Controller said 'I vos expecting to speak to you one and a half minutes ago!'

You might perhaps prefer EBKT Kortrijk over EBOS: it has fuel and customs, but is more relaxed and (I think) less expensive. I have no experience, but think you should be ok crossing Belgium West to East at FL 070 or FL090, VFR. I heard nothing but positive comments about the controllers.

Instead of Cologne you could consider Koblenz, again much more relaxed, and great scenery.
