An aerobatic lesson for a present in a C152 Acrobat? That was a present from an enemy. They are so gutless that they incite people to take short cuts. The sooner the are re-cycled into something useful like beer cans or cooking foil the better.

Or, on the other hand.... If you have learned competent aerobatics in a 152 Aerobat, you have probably also learned some flying finesse, rather than just powering through maneuvers. The 152 Aerobat is a compromise airplane for sure, but the things on the other side of the compromise (like economy, and ease of flight) make them pretty attractive overall.

In flying as in life, you can always find something bigger and more costly to operate as you progress, start cheap and simple first!

But then doing aeros is for fun - yes there is a sense of achievement doing it in a C152, but the (lack of) control harmonisation means that other aircraft with similar power can be far more enjoyable.

I loved the Pitts but any aircraft certified for aerobatics can give you a whole new world of really fun flying at an affordable price. Seeing how slow you can do a slow roll around a full moon doesn't require a -4G plane designed for outside loops.

I would say if you are slow rolling around the moon you are doing it wrong! More likely to be a barrel roll!:cool:

A barrel roll is a positive G maneuver. A slow roll is -1 G while inverted. It can be done in any attitude from horizontal to vertical.

Come to Reno for the Reno Air Races this week with us and you will see it all. My friend flies Voodoo again this year and has won the last few years in a row in a P51. His Dad gave me a couple aerobatic flights in another P51 years ago.

I have seen, flown and taught these manoeuvres and many more.
The point is more that a slow roll, done either horizontally or on a line, either way it should be flown ON the line, I do not see how a straight line can go ROUND anything - you can do this with a barrel roll or even a roll with some negative - but it will not be a slow roll and having -1 in the roll will not make it so, the nose should go up and down in the roll to stay on the line as you go from erect to inverted, but directionally is should stay straight.
