Cessna 206 fuel dipstick

Hi, everybody. First post. :ok:

I was wondering if I could get some help. I've looked all over the internet and can't find a fuel dipstick for a Cessna U206G. Tried contacting some stores and manufacturers but had no luck. Any ideas where to buy one?

Thanks for the help.

I got mine from here http://www.diy.com/nav/build/timber/finishing-timber they have dipsticks for every model of aircraft ever manufactured, I believe they have a store located deep down in Louisiana close to New Orleans way back up in the woods among the evergreens.:ok:

Fuel hawk has a universal dipstick. It comes with instructions on how to calibrate it. One of my students is using it for his 210 and it works well

Thanks for the info. Looks like homemade is the way to go.

Cessna 206H 86 gal usable dip stick marks

Does anyone have the fuel level markings for a C206H dip stick. I want to make one from a dowel stick.

Drain the tank down then fill with set amounts from bowser or measured container on level ground and mark accordingly on the stick until full.

BUT REMEMBER.... Fuel tank qty is total, cockpit placard is usable, you may have 1 gallon indicating in the wing but possibly only half of that is useable, so remember that. Check the aircraft useable and remember to correct your reading when checking the wings..

If the airplane for which you're making a dipstick is a tricycle, be sure that the nose is not unusually high or low while you're calibrating, it can make quite a difference in the dipstick reading if the oleo is depressed, or over inflated. But yes, making your own is a good way to do it. I like to wire a ring to the end of sufficient diameter that were I to drop the dipstick into the tank, the ring would prevent it falling all the way in.

Or make it in the form of a cross so the horizontal bar prevents it falling in by sitting across the opening and makes the stick stand straight, plus prevents thedipstick portion from hitting the tank bottom

This topic has occurred at an appropriate time...
One of our fellow fliers has dropped the Perspex Dipstick into the tank of our C172.
Has anyone got a method for removing it, short of paying an Aero-Mechanic to do it..?

The same thing happened recently to the gliding club C182 that I fly. A pick-up tool similar to the one that NutLoose posted was suggested, but the professional engineers in the club counselled against it. There is a risk of damaging the fuel sender and/or putting a hole in the tank bag. We got our maintenance engineer to retrieve it.

How did they do it?

db,

Message from our chief tow pilot:

(the engineer) had to pull the filler assembly off to access the tank properly to extract the dip stick

Thanks, I bet the dropper was popular! We use big chunky T-shaped dipsticks that could not fall in.
