'CTOPS'?
In the adverse wx today I had a quick listen to EGCC RT. Delivery were issuing airways clearances, squawk, and then something I'd not heard before. Phonetically it sounded like 'SEETOPS', and was (IIRC) a 4-digit number like a squawk.
Can anyone tell me what it is? |
CTOT plus a time. Calculated take off time ? Like a take off slot.
|
Hmm, closest I know of is ETOPS, extended twin ops
|
I've never heard it used on RT, but ETOPS clearances are declared as a 3 figure number.
So ETOPS 180 would be a twin engined aeroplane (say a 737) permitted to fly not further than 180 minutes single-engine from a diversion airfield. May be nothing to do with that mind you. G |
As Dash6 said it is a CTOT, "calculated takeoff time 0833" for ATC departure planning.
|
Deffo not ETOPS (I wondered if I'd misheard that so listened hard to establish it wasn't). Calculated T/O time sounds feasible, though.
Edit:Thanks D6 and ATC. That's it! |
Did somebody call?
|
its CTOT ie slot time.
As dash6 says |
'seetot' on the R/T is slapdash anyway...
|
According to Uncle Roger in Flight many years ago, ETOPS is 'Engines Turning Or Passengers Swimming.
