private flights into Glasgow

Has anyone flown into GLA recently in a light single? Looking to fly up for a days meeting this week but I can't find any info on how GA friendly they are and landing/parking charges.

They have a flying club there. Why not google that,or ring them up or search the Airport web site? Why should pprune do all the work?

I'd use Prestwick, which is very GA friendly, and has an easy train into Glasgow city centre.

Because it's a community of like minded helpful souls only too pleased to help out by giving helpful tips and advice based on personal experience and knowledge, perhaps not available from other sources?
Or shall we all disband now....

I researched flying into Glasgow some time ago. Handling is mandatory and the total cost is expensive even if you visit the flying club there.

As GTE suggests, I fly in to Prestwick a couple of times a month. I rent a car from Avis which is delivered to and collected from the Prestwick flight centre. The drive to Glasgow city centre is about 45 minutes.

The process of getting into and out of the airport is very easy and the total cost including the car is about a quarter of what I recall the cost of landing at Glasgow would have been when I researched it.

If you decide to use Prestwick you need to book in via the Prestwick Flight Centre to obtain cheap landing and parking.....Book ahead as spaces are limited. Train station at the airport and £10 return to Glasgow Central two trains an hour and 45 minutes into the city.

Alternatively, there's Cumbernauld.

Never used either Prestwick or Glasgow myself but have been into Cumbernauld a few times - fantastic GA can-do attitude, good prices mid-way between Glasgow / Edinburgh.

Thanks to the PPRUNE community for your replies. I had googled around but the cost was not clear and as I suspected, it's an arm and a leg! Prestwick sounds the best bet, so I will give them a call.
