A light aircraft has come down on private land near the airport.

Forest Road is closed and police are asking us to avoid the area.

Some planes are being held overhead, others are being diverted.

We'll bring you more details as we get them.

Gotta love the press. BBC News:

BBC News - Plane crashes after take off from Guernsey Airport

"The emergency services have begun to unload the fuel, about 2,000 litres, from the plane"

er? Really? 2000 litres? thats 10 times the amount a plane of this type can fit in its tanks...

Gotta love the press publishing facts that are not facts - trust no one!

R.T.F.Article !!!! only says 200 litres.

They are ok it would seem. They will remove the plane from the greenhouse today. Went very quiet after t/o. The pilot did a very good job as the structure cushioned his impact.

They had been attending the Aero Club w/e air rally and had stayed over for an extra couple of days and were going back home.

The aircraft used to be based in Guernsey so knew where to go in an emergency!!!

Calm down mate, it very possibly could have said 2000 litres and they realised the mistake and editted, I read the BBC news every night and often, if not daily see spelling mistakes and typos.

This story was originally published on 17 June, but the place of registry for the plane was corrected on 18 June.
This is from the BBC web, so maybe there were two corrections?

And they tend not to acknowledge the changes either.

I've picked them up for dangerous advice or simply wrong facts before and whole sections of article sometimes vanish without notice. They only acknowledge my Emails too, if it's a non-serious issue.

BBC News - Guernsey plane crash pilot 'lucky to be alive'

Steve6443 20th Jun 2014 10:07

I like the typically british understatement and consideration:

Mr Shaw also apologised for the disruption the crash caused as roads and the airport were closed.

If that had happened to me, I'd be thanking my stars for getting out, that the problems happened when they did and not halfway over the channel.....
