TMG Rating near London
I'd like to have a TMG class rating on my EASA airplane licence.
Bookers told me they don't train for TMG rating. |
Lasham perhaps?

Oxford Sport flying, (Oxford, oddly enough, Enstone to be a bit more accurate)

Lasham used to for JAR licences, they won't be able to add to an EASA licence.
Oxfordshire Sport Flying is your best bet but make it clear to them that you want a TMG on an EASA licence, otherwise they will think that you want an NPPL SLMG. I don't think they have any TMG examiners on site but they can arrange for a visiting examiner. |
Oxfordshire Sportflying Club - Operators of Enstone Aerodrome
Oxfordshire Sportflying Was indeed a good bet. Almost 2 hours drive from London. Nice place, nice and friendly people there. With an EASA licence, I did 3 training flights, and then was signed off for a NPPL(SLMG) that I received one month later, no skill test required, it's just a difference training. Training is on a T61, very enjoyable TMG, you may choose a Dimona if you wish. I will now try to get on the basis of my NPPL an EASA SPL, with TMG privileges, so that I can keep on flying TMG's after April 2015. It should be a simple paperwork exercise. I could have chosen to take a skill test to get a TMG class rating on my aeroplane EASA licence, but I needed a SPL licence anyway, as I intend to glide in France next summer. |
Another one is the Motor Glider Club at Hinton. The CFI, Clive Stainer, is an absolute Gent and has been in the game years. His number is on the airfield website Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield
Hinton is 10 minutes off Jct 10 of the M40 (of which 5 minutes is dual carriageway) and about 50 minutes drive from Uxbridge. LJ |
I'd second the recommendation for Clive at Hinton - he sent me solo back in '96 and it's cost me a fortune since!
