Student pilot flying on holiday abroad

I have looked for this answer but could not find it here on previous threads...

Is it possible for a PPL student (Student in Germany), to take a 1 hour flight with an instructor from another school whilst on holidays in Spain? (Just for the experience to fly in a different place and not as part of the required curriculum of his school back home). Just wondering if it is possible?
Thanks!

I you're not including it in your PPL why not just email or call the Spanish school you have in mind and tell them what you've told us, it shouldn't be a problem, or book a trial flight and tell the instructor when there about you past experience. Where is it you are going to?

Some schools will do this and some will not. I worked at a school in Spain that specifically didn't want "tourists" to come and just do an hour flight. They wanted people who were going to fly lots of hours and spend lots of money at the school. If you look on groupon in Spain, you will often times find single flights for sale in Spain at a slightly discounted price.

In my opinion this is one of the best things you can do for experiwnce and confidence, always something to be learnt by flying somewhere else. I logged ppl training in several countries before finishing in uk and usa. Make sure you get your logbook signed by the instructor or stamped by the school. Suggest you move this thread to private flying where you may get more replies and or suggestions by the way. Zondaracer may have a point but actually I never encountered anything other than keenness to fly even if it was only an hour or two.

I've flown in lots of places across the world and almost always with an instructor .. simply because I am not familiar with local proceedures and airspace and don't want to spend my whole flight head down in a chart making sure I don't infringe some airspace or TRA or restricted area and that I am on the right frequency.

Sometimes there are no proper VFR charts (caribbean islands and canary islands) so you really need somebody local to keep you safe and on track.

That said, I have yet to find anywhere (apart from Italy) that doesn't welcome me and my money and have always had a thoroughly instructive and enjoyable time.

Go for it get it signed off and I'll be amazed if you cannot book the time as p u/t.

So long as you're not trying to log it against qualifying experiences surelt it's just another "trial lesson".

You'll learn from it though.

If you want to log it, make sure the zchool in Spain has appropriately certified instructors.

To get maximum benefit - have you instructor in Germany write a brief note to the Spainish instructor on the areas where you need work.

The only refusal I've had was in Hong Kong, which I think was for military/political reasons rather than economic reasons.

I've had a tourist "lesson" in Australia, Canada, Jamaica, Slovenia, New Zealand.

I always get the instructor to sign my log book as it then counts for club currency when I'm hiring back in the UK after the holiday!
