Azure Flying Club - Liverpool

Hello,

I have been looking at joining this club for a while in order to build some hours. I was interested in flying the Liverpool based aircraft.

I now have my PPL and have tried getting back in touch with the person responsible for the airplane. However, my emails are getting bounced back and there is no longer any reference to Liverpool on the Fly Azure website.

Anyone know what happened?

Thanks

Odai.

I believe our Liverpool branch has folded.

Although we have not been told anything officially, the plane is now based down at Cranfield.

Wow, that's too bad. I asked to see the plane late February, and the person I was in contact with never got back to me. I thought they'd just forgotten.

Any idea what happened to those who had started with their membership? Or was this before the new membership year that started in March?

I'm assuming also the reason behind the group leaving is the fuelling arrangement put into place last year at EGGP?

You sure do pick them Odai!! Have you looked at VT group at Lpl? or if its just for hour building Ravenair used to do deals for such.

That's true. :p

I can't say I've ever heard of a VT group, googled them to no avail.

I know about the 172 group based there (G-GYAV, Southport/Merseyside Aero club), but that's it apart from Azure. Are there any others that could be suitable for a PPL?

Ravenair do a decent deal on hour building, £115 an hour in a PA28 (although isn't clear if this is the older Cherokee or if you can fly in their beefier Warrior). But this only applies if you buy blocks of 10 hours, which unfortunately I feel I cannot risk.

Doesn't seem to be any no equity groups at all at Liverpool, unless I'm missing something.

I'd prefer to fly an FTO/school operated aircraft rather than one belonging to a private flying group, being a fresh PPL.

There is a TB10 group at LFS

Why? I jumped into a fantastic share the minute I had my brown wallet and have never looked back.

But if you want to pay double the hourly rate for what is often a battered shed with 20,000 hours on it, go for it!

Captain Capstan, I've been in touch with someone from the group in the past but they told me I'd be unable to join under any kind of a no equity arrangement.

Stevelup, the reason is down to the increased level of responsibility for the airplane itself. I figured it may be useful to get some experience as a PPL before joining a group. I've also been told it may be useful to fly from somewhere that can offer a more structured service during the hour building for my CPL.

Having said that, I wouldn't rule it out completely. As you said, it is sometimes far more efficient financially. Are there any other groups like this at Liverpool?

The Ravenir price will be for either of them, think the PA38s are £85ph on the 10hr deal, I've sent you a pm of the contact details for VT.

There are at least 3 other flying schools at Liverpool, all with websites, that might be of interest to you.
