Class Rating Validity - EASA Part FCL (help please!)

Hello,

My PPL SEP rating lapsed some time ago and i'm trying to get my head around the new EASA rules with regards to keeping my SEP valid (once I have refreshed and renewed it).

I have been ploughing through the CAA website all night, and tried a few searches on here but I just can't make things add up...

I have searched CAP393 and CAP804, both of which point me towards Part FCL, so I went to Part FCL (here: EASA - Acceptable Means of Compliance and Guidance Material ) and find it seems to be 'missing some detail', all I seem to find is a check list of requirements for the issue of the licence.

I recall that the JAA SEP required 12 hours over 24 months, or a check flight with an examiner...it is this sort of information that i'm looking for in Part FCL but am unable to find so far.

CAP804 Section 4 Part P page 21 refers to an extract from Part FCL.740(b) which seems to be what I want, but when i've tried to look up that extract, I haven't been able to find it.

CAP393 seems to point to CAP804 which points to Part FCL and in the 3 documents i haven't found what i'm after.

Does anybody out there know what i'm looking for, and its location please?

FCL.740 is in Part H of CAP804 (bottom of p255 & top of p256 of my copy.)

The AMC to FCL.740(b)1 describes what needs to be done to renew your rating, basically refresher training & a skills test.

See CAP 804 Part I Section 4 Part H, Subpart 1 Pages 5-6:

FCL.740 refers to validity and renewal of class and type ratings and FCL.740.A refers to revalidation of class and type ratings - aeroplanes. Para (b) of the latter refers to revalidation of single-pilot single-engine class ratings.

CAP 804 Part I Section 4 Part H, Subpart 1 Page 7 describes the UK alternative means of compliance for the training flight requirement:

UK Alternative Means of Compliance with FCL.740.A(b)(1)(ii) – Revalidation of single-engine class ratings.

The requirements for a training flight with an FI or CRI, referred to in FCL.740.A(b)(1)(ii), may be satisfied by receiving instruction totalling at least 1 hour from the same instructor in the course of a maximum of three flights.
Prop swinger, your copy of CAP 804 is out of date. The current version was released at the beginning of February 2013 and may be downloaded at http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/CAP804Jan2013.pdf .
