David,

Do you really think they could charge an £800 fee to an AME and then charge a lesser fee to a GP? FIEs recently discovered that to retain their existing privileges to train and test PPL (FE)s they have additional charges of £1377 for a Senior Examiner test, an ATO Approval Fee of £1659 and if they also want to provide the Revalidation Seminar, which is the same as the Examiner Course, another £1000. So to stand still an additional £4036! There are unlikely to be any takers.

Hi again,

having just printed off all the paperwork and told my parents I'm intended to take a class 2, they asked me how long it lasts given the cost.

Am I right in thinking it expires yearly? if so, there's not much point in me getting one until next year!

Class 2 lasts 5 years if you're under 40.

Class 2 lasts 5 years if you're under 40.
But not beyond your 42nd birthday so really its 5 years below 37. Shop around you can get a Class II for £50

Afternoon again,

Well I've just been for my EASA Class 2 initial, and passed with flying colours (pun intended!)

The AME said he could see no reason why I wouldnt sail through a Class 1 either, so that keeps the CPL/ATPL door open for me as a career choice :ok:
