Yes I can see it is hours of operation BUT why 50nm radius, no contact details, ground to FL55. So for example an aicraft at 49 miles is in the CTA at 1500ft, why?
|
Cause Solent Zone does go from Gnd to 5500' in places. Above this is London Control's responsibility, and why 50 miles? Probably so you notice it. I shouldn't get too worried about it.

englishal at my age and hours there is not a lot that worries me but I do like to check!!! It seems to me a typical example of stupid notams that will ultimately ensure that notams are largely disregarded BUT the originator has covered their **rse and to hell with clarity or need.

The 50 miles radius is what you've taken from the Q-header line.
The NOTAM simply says: SOLENT CTA/SOUTHAMPTON CTR OPR HR MON-FRI 0530-2130 SAT 0530-2030 SUN 0630-2130 It only refers to the CTR in its normal geographical location. The 50 miles is only so that a narrow route briefing for anyone passing close to EGHI will pick up the NOTAM. A human reader should never need to read the Q-line in order to get the full information content of the NOTAM. |
Bookworm, thank you it just shows one is never too old to learn and how something can be misread due to lack of concentration.
