What a great day...
... to get your QXC succesfully completed after 6/7 weeks of sitting inside cursing the weather gods!
Very busy out there today as everyone else wanted to take advantage of the break in the weather too. Also a bit bumpy but otherwise a lovely day to be up. Thanks to all at Gloucester and Wellesbourne for your help and taking the time to sign the all important piece of paper! |
Certainly is busy today but after getting my first lesson in three weeks of a losing battle with the weather I'm not complaining.
Plus I passed my Air Law exam today:) |
I also did a first for me, 10.000 feet in a Cessna 150 as P1, south of Bridlington, great fun above clouds.
:ok: |
My formation partner, after a very successful sortie, called today's clouds - Simpsons' Clouds. I knew exactly what he meant!!
Aerobatic Display Team | Wildcat Aerobatics Would be great if you guys could like us on FB as then there is a greater chance of us appearing at a venue near you! Thanks, Stik |
I had a very pleasant day's flying today (as well as an hour after work last night) - a little gusty, but still by far the best flying weather that I can remember for yonks.
After a frustratingly lean month, it felt great. G |
It looked like stunning weather today.
I'm hoping tomorrow is going to be just as good as I've got my 2nd lesson booked. |
Tomorrow looks like there's going to be a little more cloud and a bit breezier, but I've still got a plane booked for a couple of hours despite not needing the hours - just wanna fly!
Congrats on your air law exam Weirdfish! Stik, would love to follow ya on FB but I've not an advocate I'm afraid. will definitely support you when the opportunity arises. For the price of a free ride of course ;) |
.....thats just to make those of us who can't fly this weekend even more fed up isn't it :( ;)With main instructor on hols and the other having got married this weekend, I have been unable to take advantage of the wx! So have been studying it instead!
Anyway, Ds3, congrats on your QXC, i've still got mine to "look forward" to...and to Wierdfish, congrats on your Air Law...and ditto!! |
't Was nice over here* too, though a bit windy. We saw a fair deal of visitors, and had to disappoint them that our bar wasn't open yet**. However there can be many reasons for not flying: on my little bird we did set the prop right - which I found a rather spectacular exercise - but I still need to replace the nosewheel steering cables. So I too remained bound to - how do you say that - the surly bonds of earth.
*EBZH Kiewit **it is now, though. |
Jan,
"Oh I have slipped the Surly bonds of earth, and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I climbed......." Author: Plt Off John Gillespie McGee I won't bore you with all of it! ;) GQ (Yeah I know, sad or what!!) |
Yes; very nice :ok:
Went up to drill a few holes in clouds, checked out different cannulas in my new MH oxygen system (as one does) at FL074, checked out the Ipad2 with the XGPS150 bluetooth GPS (works fine even with the GPS lying in the middle of the back seat, in one of the cupholders), checked out the LOC/GS autopilot capture, and burnt about 12 USG :) |
With main instructor on hols and the other having got married this weekend, I have been unable to take advantage of the wx! So have been studying it instead! |
It did look just beautiful! I got a magnificent eyefull of the south coast and Penzance on my way home from Paris yesterday!
|
Great flying
Bloody busy on Farnborough though!
|
Yeh another great day defying gravity :)
First time doing circuits at Headcorn and I thought it was a great place. :) |
Was working Bristol Radar today on a trip to the wonderful airfield that is Compton Abass.
Heard Bristol tell another aircraft to keep a good lookout as he has 60 to 70 glider contacts on his radar screen in his vicinity. |

:ok: how long did it take and any issues? :) |
45 mins steady climb in stages to give engine a rest from to much full power. two up, averages size gents......... no issues, last 300 feet seem to take forever to complete, once there held it's own then steady decent through clouds (IMC Qualified)
No problems & Fun to do. We enjoyed it. Cheers Trev:ok::ok: |
Well it's Sunday night, and I flew 5:40 in 3 types in 3 days, and still got the lawn mown and a day's work done on Friday.
Best aviating weekend in a long time. G |
Did you go to 10,000 on the QNH or FL Trev? I took our 152 up to 7,000 to get over some crap weather once and it was puffing a bit.
