Completing PPL

Hi folks,

Having got through most of PPL during 2006 in Florida and 2007 in California, I (stupidly) never got the radio exam completed.

I made the mistake after passing the flight test to take the last day in Cali sightseeing and planned to take the radio test back in UK....as soon as I landed in UK real life took over and I never got it done (BIG mistake).

So....I'm need to figure out what I need to do to get PPL completed, having done no flying since 2007.

I know I'll have to redo the all the 7 exams, and the radio exam, but would that be all, bearing in mind I did pass the flight test back in 2007 ?

I'm not likely to have any money for any more training or flying in the near future, but just hoping I can pass the exams to get the the piece of paper.

Can anyone advise ?

cheers

See page 5 of http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/175/srg_lt...ection%20C.pdf

Skills test has a 12 month validity, and must be taken within 6 months of completing flight instruction.
So flying wise - you are back to square 1 (although you would presumably just need refresher training to get you back up to standard before re-taking the test).

I hope you are able to pick up the bug again in the future and get back into flying. I presume you just lost motivation at the end?
Unfortunately, even if you had managed to get the licence, not flying for that long would mean that you would have lost your licence again anyway :{

Thanks for the response, sorry it sounded like a daft question.

I have rather lost the bug, and the budget, and haven't flown since, haven't looked or read anything about PPL since (hence the dumb question, and yes I could have looked it up for myself :))

My experiences of flight training in Florida with a certain training centre with affiliation with UK training centre were anything but good, they were flat out disorganised and dishonest (and the weather sucked), and that blew a lot of my budget and motivation.

Carrying on in California was such a different and most enjoyable experience and the weather was absolutely fantastic and I loved it, and I'm an idiot for not completing the PPL at the time.

I found out from this experience that in fact don't love it enough to want to do it all the time, so I'm probably more of a 'fair weather' flyer, unlikely to keep a PPL for any length of time, but want to get there just once.
