Sun N Fun Florida

Is anyone going this year? I'm looking at dropping in on the Friday for the first time. Looks pretty decent.:ok:

I've been three times , sadly not this year. Highly recommended , fridays are good , forget sunday -most of the aircraft have gone , make sure you go to the Splash In at Lake Agnes:D

If you can go over a period of days , it's amazing how the visiting aircraft vary in types as they change each day as folk start to fly out.

Been twice. Once drove there and once flew in. Flying in is much more fun. Helps to have someone with you to help look for traffic. Make sure you understand & comply with the ATC procedures. You won't talk on the radio but ATC will be giving a continuous stream of instructions to all & sundry.

I'll be spending a couple of days each way flying out and back from LA (it's a 5000 mile round trip). The arrival isn't too bad unless you get behind someone flying really slow out of Lake Parker (single file, no overtaking).

It's the next biggest thing to Oshkosh but on a more modest scale.

The seaplane event is at Kermit Weeks' fantasy of flight field on the Thursday at Polk City, about 15 miles up the freeway from Lakeland.

Carry sun, rain and tornado protection. Hopefully not a repeat of last year!

It's Wednesday and Friday for me - it will be my 5th visit. Once in a C172 and once in a Twin Comanche and twice by road. If you get a chance, study the non radio joining procedure it works like clockwork. Basically, everybody tunes in the appropriate frequency and flies in via Lake Parker Power Station and is given instructions by ground crew, you acknowledge by dipping your wings; slow traffic at 1000ft and faster at 1500ft.

Yes I will be over from the UK and attending the show for the third year.
Hopefully there will not be a repeat of the tornado that went through the area last year.

It was heartbreaking to see the damage it caused to aircraft and exibitors stands. But to witness the hard work the organisers and countless volunteers who worked through the night to clean the site up was incredible. :D

While in Florida I will also continue my PPl training just up the road from Lakeland at Tailwheels flight school based at Winter Haven (KGIF)

I have 10 hours flying training time in my log book from my last visit in December, and as we will be staying in the US for 5 weeks, I have booked Tailwheels accelerated course to try and achieve my PPL goal during this upcoming visit.
