Flying around Europe??
Hi there,
I hold an Australian commercial pilot license. I am looking at taking an extended holiday in Europe soon and would be interested in doing some flying. What is the process in terms of being issued a private pilots license in Europe based of my Australian (ICAO) license? If I get the license issued within one country does that mean I am free to fly across the many different countries within Europe? Any help you could provide would be great. I also hold a British passport if that makes any difference. Many thanks, J |
If you hold an ICAO license then that is *implicitly* validated by the UK authorities as being valid for flying a G-reg (PPL privileges only though). And that validation is valid worldwide. Check the ANO.
So if you rent a G-reg there's no paperwork required at all. |
That automatic validation should be available till April 2014, AIUI.
After that, the pilot will have to follow perhaps the "100hr" conversion route. |
