Audio jack to camcorder in PA-28

All,

I've done a search for this previously in this forum but I've not found an exact answer - just suggestions to use mics inside the headset to pick up ATC audio.

I am looking to take my friends out in a PA28 and they will want to record the experience using a camcorder. The camcorder has an audio-in jack (or mic jack). Is it possible to use a cable that connects the headset audio out in the cabin to the mic input of the camcorder? I do not really want to use a small mic inside my headset, if I can do it this way I would prefer it.

Is the audio socket amplified at all? Will I have problems recording audio in this way due to sound levels being too high?

Thanks

Andoni

I use a cable that I bought on line and it works ok but the volume in the aircraft comms system needs to be low to avoid swamping the Sony video camera that I use.

I also sit my camera on a full size tripod, two legs on the floor behind the seats and one on the rear seats, tied down, and this has the viewpoint in between the heads of the folk up front.

For two up flying this is fine, for solo I sit it on the right rear seat and it captures a front pax viewpoint.

As important as the sound, is the mounting or at least resting of the camera on a solid surface. Hand held video taken in an aircraft is not nice to watch.

micro tie clip size microphone works far easier, comfortable (you wont know its in your headset) and is cheap.:ok:
