Revalidation issue

Hello everybody!

I am planning to take some friends up flying in a single engine piston. I hold a UK ATPL but I need to renew my SEP certificate of revalidation (CoR). I am now running into an interesting and complex issue, since I plan to renew my SEP in a different JAA member state (Germany).

The UK CoR is valid for one year only, whereas other JAA member states give their CoR a validity of 2 years. Can I renew my CoR in another JAA member state with my UK license? If so, how long is the renewed SEP valid for? One year, as per (national) UK regulation? Or two years?

Any ideas?

SEP is valid in the UK for 24 months on UK/JAR licences so no difference between National Authorities.

Get your examiner to confirm with the UK what they want him to do. This will depend how long your SEP has lapsed.

If it's expired less than 5 years, the CAA will probably want a copy of his examiner authority, ask him to complete a SRG1119, and get him to sign your FCL150 in your licence upon successful completion of the LPC.

For a renewal less than 5 years expired, then a JAA examiner can complete the SRG1119 and sign the rating page. If its over 5 years and the CAA have to re-issue the SEP rating they will probably want a copy of the examiners authorisation to accompany the SRG1119. Only the CAA can sign the page if its expired more than 5 years and in any case they will issue a new page.

A UK C of R for SEP has never had a 1 year validity period, that is for ME Class and Types.
