Aircraft Down @ Bournemouth

Another one...

Plane comes down shortly after taking off from Bournemouth airport (From Bournemouth Echo)

What a bloody terrible week

Fingers crossed for the crew

And some random text because PPrune thinks that was a single character post.

Every time I look at the Bournemouth Echo report it seems to have changed!

An early version was reporting the aircraft as being operated by CEGA Aviation but this has now been removed. Was this reported in error?

It now says "The plane was a twin-engined, 18 seater" but I understand it was a Kingair E90 - how do they cram in all those seats?

I see they are now reporting site of the forced landed as Dusbury Golf Course - which of course (no pun intended) should be Dudsbury.

Found this on the Beeb

Monocock 18th May 2011 15:11

I can feintly hear the keyboards tapping away of the PPRuNe amateur AAIB as I sit here

Fokkerwokker 18th May 2011 15:15

Clearly there was no lift in the air Mono - anyone can deduce that.

:}

Glad they walked out

Pudnucker 18th May 2011 15:53

Great news no serious injuries... As the two guys walked away, does it mean that everyone on Pprune is now allowed to summise as to what happened???? Go for it chaps! :ok:

The timing of this NOTAM could be significant!

FUEL AVAILABLE FROM SHELL ONLY

Possible double engine failure has been rumoured.

Bournemouth Air 18th May 2011 18:11

It was a beech 90 and was an ex cega machine which still lives in the hangar

All aircraft fueled with jet where grounded

Pudnucker 18th May 2011 18:33

Hmm. Not many ways to stop both engines on a king air... If indeed the engines were stopped...

SFCC 18th May 2011 18:33

Good work boys :ok:

Have a well deserved beer now!

BBC News - Men's 'lucky escape' from Dorset light aircraft crash

look at the pic looks like the prop may have been turning

Plus they used the old Biggles pancake trick

Glad they are ok :D:D

Pudnucker 18th May 2011 21:31

Biggles pancake?? Wazzzattt?

I guess holding off as long as possible and dropping tail on ground first... Not in my (dusty!!) Trevor Thom..

Deeday 18th May 2011 21:45

I wonder if it's a write-off. It doesn't seem too badly damaged (at least the starboard side!)

I thought it required a handy tree....

FleetFlyer 19th May 2011 16:43

Funnily enough, I was just doing some work over at BAE and drove home past the entrance to the AAIB. What should be coming the other way but a truck with two turbo-prop engines complete with props in a trailer on the back.

Monocock: "I can feintly hear the keyboards tapping away of the PPRuNe amateur AAIB as I sit here"

Feintly? "

Ah a distracting post perhaps?

LOL

IO540 20th May 2011 08:18

The other threads here and elsewhere suggest fuel contamination, but just how badly would avtur have to be contaminated to not burn in a PT6 and not burn so decisively so as to bring it down shortly after takeoff?

You could burn Pimms in a PT6, probably...

Fame ?

'Chuffer' Dandridge 20th May 2011 22:12

As IO540 has said, you could almost run a PT6 on Marmite, so FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) contamination is a non starter... I reckon if there was any hint of a contaminated fuel supply at the point of refuel, people would know, as it potentially would have involved other aircraft.
