Passed my skills test!
Taken me nearly 5 years, but finally managed to get it passed yesterday. Elated is a word I would use to describe the feeling. :E
This forum helped to keep my enthusiasm going, especially after reading Mazzy's blog & Jason's PPL book. I've got a few weeks waiting for the turd coloured wallet to drop through he door so I'm going to carry on training & get converted to the 150/152 & some more instrument time. |
Well done that man!
|
its a great feeling when you go and book out for the first time doing whatever you want to do.. enjoy it .. congratulations
|
Well done.
One more of us, one less of them! |
Can i ask buddy. How many hours did it take you. Or is that a little nosey?
|
Cheers for the kind words.
I don't have my logbook in front of me but roughly 47 hours |
Well Done ! Just in time for summer
|
Congratulations Sir!
|
Well done mate, nice one :)
|
many congratulations in order, where did you do it from?
|
At Newcastle, Northumbria Flying School.
|
Who was your instructor, Becks?
|
Yea, Beckie was one of them, think I've flown with all of them now, great bunch of people & would recommend the school to anyone wishing to learn to fly.
Are you training there or passed now? |
Well done, keep it up!! :ok:
|
Wow 47 hours is pretty good! the minimum in NZ is 55 :-(
I did mine in 61 Hours that includes a 2 hours night and 5 instrument (Simulated with foggles) Whats the Min hours in UK? 45? do you have to do any instrument flying? |
Min is 40 in NZ if you don't want cross country privileges but if you do then min goes up to 50 because you need 10 hours cross country time. 5 Hours instrument time is required somewhere in there. Night not required if you don't want to do it.
Speaking of night flying, now that we are back to NZST Ill be doing some soon, maybe tonight if the weather holds out. |
Are you training there or passed now? |
Congratulations! :ok:
|

Thanks Tim! Your words of wisdom helped no end on Thursday :ok:
Can't wait to get up in Lima Romeo ASAP :E Sent the paperwork off to the CAA today, hopefully not a long wait for the license. Thanks to everyone on this thread, very kind words. |
Passed mine too!
Just passed my Skills Test yesterday too, which was such a relief and I'm still trying to take it all in! As soon as I had passed, my instructor referred to me "captain" which was such a great feeling! Looking at my instructor beforehand, I think he was just as nervous as I was!!
The test was much better than I'd anticipated. Despite bad vis, my Nav went like clockwork, although my altitude kept fluctuating as I concentrated on identifying waypoints. The main problem I had was that I dialled in two frequencies incorrectly which I can only put down to nerves. General handling went fine and my examiner nearly took me into cloud and luckily I told him that I was not allowed to do that! Landings were OK - not perfect, but I was pleased the way I'd flown. Also my answers to the oral questions were not great but by that time, I was frazzled! Thanks to everyone at RFC Bourn for helping me through my 60 hours and 3 years of being a student pilot. Great place to learn and can honestly say that I enjoyed every lesson! |
Many congratulations Sir! Welcome to the club. :D
|
very well done to you both!! welcome to the family :D
|
Congratulations Markie!:ok::D
