Best place to fly in UK

Asking for advice please.

Where is the best place to fly privately in the UK?

Consideration list:

- Country based
- Flying club for aerobatic and/or tailwheel types.
- Potential to operate and hangar own aircraft.
- Wx factors +ve/-ve
- Alternative locations to UK - for six months a year

Thank you

White Waltham tick your boxes

Clacton

I think clacton aero club is the one your after.

Country based - 2 minutes (flying time) from the East Anglian countryside.
Flying club - Does tail wheel and as far as I know aerobatics.
Clacton beacon 114.55 - 4.5 miles North of the airfield will guide you back to the airfield in bad weather.

Several clubs/schools have aerobatic and tailwheel aircraft available but, given your particular interest in those areas, I suggest you consider West London Aero Club (White Waltham) and the Tiger Club (Headcorn).

Both have a good atmosphere - although very different from each other.

WLAC has by far the best clubhouse in the UK.
The Tiger Club specialises in aeros and formation-flying. It was formed more than 50 years ago by aerobatics and air-racing enthusiasts and is well-established as the home of sport aviation in the UK. I was a member years ago and, from all I hear, it's still going strong.

Try Bagby North Yorkshire.

I will certainly second Bagby, flew there last year. Indeed one of the friendliest aero clubs I've attended.:)

Another vote here for Bagby.

Best, as in most likely able to fly? My old home field Lydd. The East Sussex south coast has the highest amount of sun hours in England. It's also a cheap and friendly with great ATC.

Got to be Sandown today. About 30 - 40 aircraft flew in around lunchtime! :)
