Any PPL out there with hearing impairment/ aid ,

I have posted a query about this from the medical/licensing perspective in the appropriate forum. Apologies to the moderators if they feel one thread would suffice!. .. .I have a hearing deficit and wear a hearing aid. I don't have too many problems in normal coversation etc. I am interested in the experiences of pilots in this situation. There has got to be a few out there, maybe as a result of exposure to engine noise (though that is not the case with me). . .I am particularly interested in sound quality in headsets, and if any of you feel that flying could be unsafe for me.. . . . [ 21 March 2002, 01:29: Message edited by: chickenhawk66 ]

Pardon?. .. .Seriously Chick -I've just spoken to my 70 year old uncle who does wear a hearing aid normally but finds his hearing in the air better!! He doesn't wear his hearing aid in the air and finds normal DC(David Clarke) headphones OK. Same applies to the telpehone which he can hear better without his aid. assume it's something to do witht hte ambient noise?. .. .Rgds. .DOC

I have the same issues to deal with, if you could be more precise as to what you are wanting to know..eg will you pass the medical etc I might be able to help, feel free to email me or ask away in here only one thing to say otherwise is I find I dont really benefit from the aid in the air as the headphones are good...btw Im only a new student ppl
