FAA IR to IMC conversion

Has anyone made this conversion? I don't know what the current state of play is with JAA and IMC, so I'm wondering if this conversion path still open. How much difference training is needed?

Thanks,

M

My understanding was that if you got an FAA IR then you automatically got a CAA IMC rating when returning to the UK. No extra training required. JAA has nothing to do with this because the IMC is not a JAA qualification.

Anyone correct me?

Simon

Thanks Simon,

I realize that no additional training is "required", I was wondering if anyone has actually done this in practice. How different are the procedures operating under an IMC rating in the UK from filing and flying low-level airways here in the states?

I would think the biggest difference is that you are not allowed to file IFR and fly an airway on the strength of the IMC rating - however low.

Mongoose.
I converted my FAA IR to a CAA IMC only this week. Get the IMC application form, fill it in, send your logbook and FAA license along with £64 to the CAA. You also need to hold an RT license.
