Slepcev Storch

Has anyone here flown a Storch? Any opinions on them? Are any flying in the UK yet? (they're made in Oz). Looks a fascinating machine, highly suitable for strip operation (claimed stall speed 18 kts).

No, but I'd love to. I've flown a few other serious STOL machines and love them (I never thought I would). Are you in the market for such a beast?

I would expect, however, that an 18 knot stall speed would mean a seriously low wing loading which would present parking/picketting problems and make it a bit uncomfortable in rough weather.

Saw it displayed a couple of years back and it was very impressive - as long as you are impressed by short takeoffs and landings and slow flight. I suggested to someone who was in a position to do so that he buy one and his reply was that he had thought about it but was put off by the thought of having to go everywhere at 60 knots.. .In other words, nice to play with but you can`t really go anywhere in it.

M14 - well yes I was thinking about it, but would need to be assured of hangarage / storage for it as it would clearly not be an a/c to park outside.

Skylark, well I'm used to bumbling around at 60 anyway in the Luton Minor, but I suppose you have a point when it comes to going places (or not going places). My plan (if hangarage can be found) would be to buy one ex-works (a/c builder I am not), then over time sell shares in it.

But, looking at all options at the moment.

Wouldnt mind a decent Citabria actually - a good all round a/c.

If you like the Storch and interested in STOL aircraft at a reasonable price I have flown one called the A22 Foxbat. Great fun easy and safe to fly. www.foxbat.co.uk will give you all the info you need.
