Good accounts of learning to fly

I've been searching for some good writeups/diaries/blogs from students who have gone through the PPL course. These have given me a lot of insight into both the sequence of the syllabus, how the students felt during their training, and how the different flying schools/instructors operate. It has helped to calibrate my own progress, what to expect next, and how my own flying school compares.

In no particular order, I'd like to thank those who shared their experience:

Michael who learnt at PFL in Oxford, with a variety of different instructors. He kick started his training with a week (about 10 hours) in Spain. Passed in 59 hours spread across 20 months.

Leia Fee who learnt with the Cambrian Flying School in Wales, taking just under 48 hours spread across 2 and a half years. She's also continued her diary as a PPL novice. I particularly enjoyed her story about taking a 6 year old lad up from Haverfordwest.

In case you were considering the intensive course in the US option, I can strongly recommend the diary written up and published as a book, Learning to Fly in 21 Days by Phil Stone (less than a fiver from Amazon).

Anyone else know of similarly thorough and insightful stories from those who have completed the course?

At the risk of ... um, who knows what ... the PINK HEADSETS thread started off quite well.

Suggest you try the search function here in PF - just put "diary" in...
