Incident at White Waltham 5th April

BBC Berkshire is reporting a take-off incident this afternoon at White Waltham. The aircraft crashed on take-off but both occupants escaped unhurt. Does anyone have any other details, it is rumoured that it may have been a Cirrus SR22 ?

A stunning piece of journalism :bored:

Good to know that both occupants escaped unharmed though.

Was at the ai.rfield and saw just the final part of a very short moment: plane settling on the ground, occupants leaving the plane, then plane catching fire (not that fast). No explosion as reported.
Investigation will tell what happened, the rest is speculation.
Plane was a cirrus, and occupants got out unharmed. Police, firetrucks and med heli came on side, but not much more to report.

An Introductory flying lesson in a Piper Warrior aircraft can be booked at the Aero Club for just £150.
You've got to love what must be about the only factual part of the whole article ... someone from the Aero Club must have been on a PR course :)

You have to wonder what point the Mail is trying to make - "just £150"...

Assuming that reporter didn't just lift the details from an advert or press statement from the flying club, one can only assume that £150 is felt to be quite cheap (for a Daily Mail reader at least).

And did you follow the link to the car scrappage scheme article?
What an astonishingly short-sighted policy this is.

The BBC have a far more appropriate way of reporting this:
