Night Restriction Removal - Licence Question
I've just received my new licence from the CAA after completing the required training and sending off the paperwork for night flying. As far as I can see the new licence which I've paid the sum of £84 for is exactly the same as my previous licence! Is this some kind of mistake, or are people just supposed to take my word and logbook entries as qualification for night flying?
|
Slightly red-faced now. I've had another look and there is a sentence saying:
'The privileges of this licence can be exercised during night' I should have read the instructions that came with it :oh: £84 well spent! |
did you send the old licence off or did you do as i did and as the app form stated, send the logbook and the fee with application form?
I am awaiting mine presuming they send a new piece of paper for my brown book... |
On a similar note, I completed my 5 hours (inc 3 hours dual + 5 full stops) last night and am reluctant to spend the £84 unless I have to. If I have no intention to utilise my PPL at night, and have only done the hours as part of the CPL requirement, am I right in thinking that I don't actually need to pay for the CAA to remove the restriction from my license at this stage? As long as the hours are in my log book, then it will automatically be removed when I apply for my CPL?

stansted_dan,
I stand to be corrected, but I believe you need to bite the bullet, pay the £84 and still send the licence off when you apply for your CPL. Something to do with the wording - that you must hold a night qualification before you're eligible for a CPL. Moneymaker :ok: |
LASORS Sec D p. 6 part (c). Appears to be an experience requirement rather than a qualification requirement. Worthwhile checking to avoid paying the £84

The cpl application form asks if you have completed the required training for night flying, it doesnt matter if you still have the night restriction on your ppl or not.
Save yourself the £84. |
liam548: I sent off my logbook, the application form and the payment form. They returned me a new FCL page from my brown book with an extra sentence on it along with my logbook.
There's a check list at the bottom of the last page on the application and I followed it as you did. It took them about three weeks to process mine, which is a good deal longer than the processing time of my original licence! |
