Fixed wing PPL in titusville,FL?
Hi does anybody know if either of the airfields in Titusville FL have an active PPL(A) school anymore? The only information I can find here or anywhere else is about 8 yrs old! The names Debenair and Famco Aviation keep coming up but these companies seem to be gone bust? I will be spending a few months in Titusville and would love to get the FAA PPL done without having to drive to Merritt Island or Kissimmee!

Have you spoken to Walkwitz Avaiation ? They quote singles prices as well as twins, and also quote instructor prices. If they don't do FAA PPL training, they'll know who does.

Hey thanks for that very quick response, I've just emailed them so hopefully they can help me out! for some reason they've never come up in a google search! Plus I know some men who will be very interested in that multi hours scheme!

Just an update for anyone who is looking at this, Walkwitz Aviation doesn't seem to be operational anymore either, in fact according to Google the owner was killed in a plane crash a few years ago...
If anyone else knows of somewhere still going in Titusville I'd appreciate it! |
KTIX is nearly all helicopter training, now. You might look at other fields nearby, up and down the coast. A lot of training at Deland, Melbourne, and other locations throughout the area. I know an individual who does training out of KTIX, but I think it's primarily aerobatic in a Citabria.

Try St Augustine, run by a Norwegian Bjorn Ottersen http://www.florida-aviation.com/private.html nice place, well run and they understand the European market.

Space Coast KTIX
You could e-mail Annette at Space Coast Jet Center (she used to own Debenair a few years ago). I was out there March 2008 but now no web site or phone number, so I would think all fixed wing training has stopped at KTIX. Nearest would be Merritt Island I have also used Voyager a few times. They have a new owner (Scott) but have not been since he bought it. He still has most of the aircraft PA28's & C152 plus a few others.

You do not need a school to sponsor your visa if you are a citizen of one of the 35 countries participating in Visa Waiver Program. It is possible to apply to the TSA for category 3 (below 12500lbs MTOW) training when you are already in the US.
