Comms Written Exam

Well I'm finally ready for the Skills Test but just have to get the RT license out the way first. I've done various forum searches but can find very little information on the Comms written exam and it isn't in my PPL confuser....ie. is it the same format as the 6 other PPL theory exams, multiple choice? How many and what kind of questions are asked? Is it just picking appropriate phrases for certain situations, or are you expected to know technicalities, radio failures, radio nav equipment etc? I also understand that I have to pass the Comms written before taking the RT practical? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Here is an older topic on the same subject from the forum:

This is the first website that comes up when you type 'PPL Communications Exam' into google and will give you an example of the questions.

PPL Mania | PPL Training | Radiotelephony Exam

I personally used the transair/oxford aviation question/answer CD-Rom when I did my PPL writtens.

liam548 - I have an ancient second hand copy of the confuser and it's not in there unfortunately!

L'aviateur - Many thanks for that, I'm just obviously not great at using the forum search tool! That website is excellent, surprised I've not heard of it before. It's given me a good general idea of the questions to expect, looks fairly standard to me.

May also be worth noting that the "question bank" changed in June.

Type of service has changed obviously, anyone know any other areas that may have changed or is exam pretty much same with the 'expected' questions. Anyone taken it recently?

Had a read through CAP413 (new), so hopefully exam won't differ too much from confuser etc...

Raptor.
