Getting a FAA license on the back of JAR

Please dont shoot me for asking cos i know the rules have changed slightly now.

1. going to the states in Sept and want to do some flying
2. how do i go about getting an FAA license on the back of my PPL
3. how long does the process take.
4. how much will it cost.
Were do i start?
