Anybody got a whizz wheel handy ?

What's the weight, in pounds, of 50 US gallons of fuel at SG 0.72 ?

flyr767 20th May 2008 13:59

Standard fuel density is 6.7 lbs / gal so 50 USG is roughly 335 lbs.

and the correct answer is- - - - - -

300lbs (or maybe 301lbs), on planet Earth, 'cos on the moon it would be a lot less.

Errr

Whizz wheel gives 300 lbs but why ask? If you have no whizz wheel but have net access there are dozens of websites to do this sort of calculation
That's exactly what I did :O
Looks like lardy me and pax can fly full fuel on Saturday, nice, just need the wx now.

Have you completed yet G-EMMA ? All exams done ? IMC on the horizon ? I was desperate to do an IMC after the PPL but now I'm enjoying not cramming in information and just going out and doing my own thing.

Hopefully get around to an IMC at some point though...

Some things are best committed to memory: 6 lbs/USG, 7.2 lbs/IG, 0.72kg/l (for avgas at SG of 0.72)
