Fees and Charges at Norwich

Some of you (the very large majority) may have been put off by a minimum fee for landing at Norwich during 2007 - early 2008.

New fees and charges have just been published, and its now for private flights £8.89 per half tonne up to 3 tonnes plus parking, over 3 tonnes it increases.
For training and test flights, where they are pre booked and notified to ATC, a 60% discount applies.
If you pay on the day, you get a 25% discount, but I don't think that's in addition to the above (you can always live in hope!).
The new fees and charges are not on the airport website yet, but should be shortly.
Additionally, park on the light aircraft park and arrange to visit one of the based flying clubs, one of whom has full resturant facilities, & you don't get the hassle of having to wait for transport to the terminal.

It's not my place to comment on what went on before or now, all I can say is that, it's a lot cheaper than it was and we'll endeavour to give everyone, regardless of rank, the same sterling professional service which we always have.

Despite desperate economic times, we look forward to seeing old and new customers alike.

I put Norwich on the no fly list due to its very high landing fee. Are you now saying I can fly in for £8.89 (490kg MTOW) and no other charge? No min invoice value, no handling, no catch?

Is that the fee if you just taxi to the flying club?

Nik nak

That's very good news if it's true:

I crossed Norwich off my go-to list 18 months ago and I'm only based 30 miles away.

What about the minimum invoice £45?

And what about practise ILSs with no landing, but payment by phone same day?

Yours in eager anticipation

Well that is good news indeed. I guess London (Norwich) International did not pan out for them.

Great news for us in GA though and I will certainly be returning again. Do you know what the fees for Instrument training will be Niknak?

Are you thinking what I think you're thinking, bose?

Cusco;)

:);) Now what could you mean.....

Zulu Alpha 18th Mar 2008 17:29

Oh Poo!!

I'm 590Kg MTOW so just over 490Kg so its 2x £8.89

Guess I still won't be going there unless its based on actual weight, in which case I'm OK

I must say Norwich are an incredibly helpful bunch ATC wise but I have avoided the airfield due to the charges . Theres always Old Buck and Seething not too far away , theres no landing fee at Seething just a nice donation system , plus a free landing voucher in a certain flying mag this month

niknak 18th Mar 2008 17:55

The minimum invoice fee is still around £45 and that's reasonable given the fact that if you pay on the day, you get 25% off the stated fee of £8.98 per half tonne, or if you book as a training rate you get 60% off.

If you are just doing approaches, the same fee applies as per a landing, ie £8.98 per half tonne per approach, but if you book in advance you get the training discount of 60% off.
If you make an approach and landing, it's still £8.98 per half tonne plus applicable discount.

If you don't pay on the day, the company have to raise an invoice and while most people pay within a reasonable time, some don't and anyone who runs their own business knows what a pain in the arse chasing money is and that cashflow is king.

Obviously all figures are plus VAT and don't include long term parking.

Pay in advance or on the day, stay away from the terminal to avoid security checks and the nause of delays, make use of the flying clubs hospitality - if you want fuel it's especially important to do that by booking in advance to use their aprons - negotiations are in progress to set up full facilities with one of the base operators to provide a full FBO handling service, although the detail has yet to be finalised.

Simple isn't it....;) Look forward to seeing you :ok:

Niknak,

Just so that I understand, if I fly in in my Arrow as a normal private flight, regardless of the pay-on-the-day discount, the landing fee is £45 as a result of the minimum invoice???

Blimey! would you have guessed that? what a suprise ;)

Shunter 18th Mar 2008 18:08

I think what he's saying is that an invoice only needs to be raised if you don't pay on the day.

Either way it's good news. I've specifically avoided Norwich due to the ludicrous landing fees. Now if only Cranfield (who still haven't pulled their heads out of their arses and got a DME) would do something similar...

Whirlygig 18th Mar 2008 18:52

Just seen Norwich ATCers featured on Look East with their newly refurbished tower dedicated to Robin Scriven! Nice to put a couple of faces to the names!!

Cheers

I thought airports were suppose to attract aircraft.

For far too long now Norwich has had Dillusions of Grandeur - it is cutting ff its own nose to spite its face. Forget Norwich - go to some where else thats alot cheaper and friendly - Seething or Old Buckenham

jaycee58 18th Mar 2008 22:13

And please don't forget Beccles either!! We're only 5 minutes away from Seething.

CottonEyeJoe 18th Mar 2008 22:22

Norwich? one of our crew said that the family tree in Norwich, is a straight line, what could he mean?

ShyTorque 18th Mar 2008 22:36

Shunter, Do you mean an ILS DME? I transit regularly past Cranfield receiving both VOR and DME on 116.5.

Cusco 19th Mar 2008 00:43

Nice to see Norwich got a mention on the local BBC TV news tonight:

Anyone here you recognise?

Now this I want to see!!!

There is no DME on the Cranfield VOR. if there was then it could be used with the ILS for DME range and none of us would be complaining!!

I suspect that now Netjets are moving to Cranfield they may be able to excerpt enough pressure for a DME as I am sure they will not want to be doing timed procedures.
