What group is the RV6A?

I'm wanting to renew my ppl in an RV6a that belongs to a friend, I am insured on the aircrat. My instructor tells me it is group D and therefore not suitable for renewing a group A licence. Can anyone confirm the aircraft group? (The owner is away for 3 weeks and I want to get on with the check ride) I'm sure it will be in the a/c log but it is in the hanger, 30 miles away.
type :- rv6a, pfa no. :- 181-13103, g-bxvm

Any help appreciated.

Ransman, given your nickname, maybe the instructor is mixing up the Rans and the Vans!!!

Good point, only he dosn't know who I am! The name does come from my previous type though, over 400 hrs on the S6. Great fun! Cheers.

Group A has not existed since 1 Feb 2001 and Group D disappeared about 15 years ago! So it can now be classified as SEP or SSEA
