Not exactly LAX
It may be winter, but it's still lovely flying weather non the less. Some pictures from yesterday. The Nipper may be slow but it still seems like a better bet than trying to go south on the A34!
I also went to Old Sarum, but the circuit was busy, hence no pictures. Great tea and sandwiches served by such nice helpful young ladies. And for those of you who rile against the EGHI controllers, all I can say is they have never been anything but helpful to me. The pictures tell their own story. http://homepage.mac.com/peterbentley...nip/nip001.JPG Jam on the A34 http://homepage.mac.com/peterbentley...nip/nip002.JPG Overhead EGHI http://homepage.mac.com/peterbentley...nip/nip003.JPG Approaching EGHI http://homepage.mac.com/peterbentley...nip/nip004.JPG Bourne Park http://homepage.mac.com/peterbentley...nip/nip005.JPG Andover http://homepage.mac.com/peterbentley...nip/nip006.JPG Clear all the way to the horizon just north of Winchester. |
Nice pics, we went flying on Saturday and was lovely from Worcs-Warwickshire and back.
How do you take the straight down pics? I would have thought the wing would get in the way... impressive depth of field, the wheel and the ground are all in focus. |
Nice pics :)

Straight down pictures are easy - there is a window in the wing root. Not a very wide field of view though and it get dirty very quickly. If you take the perspex out a force-eight gale comes in!
And for DublinPilot, this is a Nipper..... http://homepage.mac.com/peterbentleypictures http://homepage.mac.com/peterbentley...nip/nip007.JPG |
Thanks! Looks like a lot of fun!
Though the angle of the wheels of the main undercarraige looks scary! Especially with my favourite crosswind method being the wind down! dp |
The wheels go up quite a lot once they have some weight on them. The axles are horizontal on the ground at flying weight.
You can land it quite nicely on one wheel. My personal cross-wind limit is about 20 knots. After that taxiing gets quite scary.... |
